Toader

Toader
No. Enc.: 2d6
Alignment: Chaotic
Movement: 60' (20') [Leap 120']
Armor Class: 6 (8 when in mid-leap)
Hit Dice: 2
Attacks: 1 (talon, weapon)
Damage: 1d4, by weapon, special
Save: F4
Morale: 10

Toaders can move very quietly, surprising opponents 70% of the time in wooded or lushly vegetated areas outdoors. They can also hide in woodland areas so as not to be noticed 60% of the time, as long as they remain totally still.

Toaders are capable of leaping in to ambush their prey, or to escape from combat. Any attack made while leaping gains a +1 bonus on damage, but suffers a -1 penalty to hit. They also suffer a 2-step reduction in their armor class when leaping.

Toaders will sometimes coat their talons with poison, but this is not at all a common practice.

  1. Simple and full of character, and potentially a very nasty encounter. I like the idea of the image being a paper mini too. I hope you'll keep them coming - you can never have too many options when they're so easily carried and stored.

  2. Just want to say that I love the material you post to the blog! Are you planning on doing more about the Tsan Y'an and Wermspittle settings, or putting out any pdf compilations of yer critters?

  3. @Porky: These little guys make nice marsh-based cannon-fodder type hordes of gurgling geurilla infantry. Definitely very good ambushers.

Yep. There will be more Paper Miniatures coming soon. We've adopted a variant to the style presented by One Monk Miniatures. 30mm, roughly. We'll have some larger-scale Paper Minis available soon as well...

  4. @RAD Colin: Thanks! We've pulled a lot of the Tsan Yian stuff back to revise, expand and flesh it out a good bit more so that it fits into the work we've been doing for the rules underlying it. The Terminal Grimoire will be one of our first couple of PDFs and that will unlock the way to Tsan Yian...among other weird spaces. There will be a lot more Wermspittle coming through the blog and in the form of PDFs and other things, including a few interconnected adventures and more monsters.

We are seriously considering doing a compilation PDF of our critters, if there is enough interest in such a thing.
