Pack animals, beasts of burden, sometimes used in siege warfare or as mounts by certain creatures, glimp-shells are slow, plodding things capable of enduring the harshest extremes and the worst conditions. They have peculiar extended tactile perceptiveness, have incredibly acute hearing and olfactory sense, but are completely blind. Most Glimp-Shells also possess a form of simple empathy which can make them very responsive to the commands of someone whom they trust, and impossibly cantankerous with handlers who fear them or dislike them for whatever reason.

In certain markets one can find a wide variety of glimp-shells in a range of sizes and dispositions. There are various breeds of glimp-shells that are small enough (approximately human-sized) that they are sometimes brought along into dungeons and ruins by adventurers and looters.

A Glimp-Shell can carry 100 pounds per Hit Die. They are mature at 4 HD, and grow up to 12 HD.

They smell of stale wax and harpy-spittle, but they are loyal. And they don't eat much. In fact they don't eat at all. They just absorb ambient energy from their surroundings. Gods help the unwary adventurer if one of these beasts ever become vampiric or something like that...it just doesn't bear thinking about...
